About

Where the pew meets the public square

A resource for Christians who want to be good citizens without losing their footing.

The Civic Pew exists to help Bible-believing Christians think about American public life with open Bibles and a long memory. Every week we start with Scripture, learn from American history, and try to talk about hard things with warmth and respect.

Why “The Civic Pew”?

The pew is where we sit to hear God’s Word. The civic square is where we live it out with our neighbors. We think those two places belong together. When God sent His people into exile in Babylon, He told them to seek the welfare of the city where they lived and to pray for it (Jeremiah 29:7). That’s still a good word for us.

What you’ll find here

What we’re not

We’re not a campaign, a party, or a political action committee. We don’t endorse candidates or parties, and we don’t think politics can save anyone. We care about public life because God cares about our neighbors, and public life is one of the ways we love them at scale.
